Part model (Foo Li Ying 1401334F)

Part model
1:250 model
My main focus of play area will be the curls on my 250 scale model. I will be moving the curls to the middle of the site and inside these curls there would be these square "houses" and different ways of entering the houses. Each houses would be connected to each other with high elements, nets and such. I would be combining trampolines and the curls together and be taking out the FnB.

1:100 Scale Model & Case Studies - Elaine Tan

Overview of my model at the site

First attempt of my part model showing the interior of the indoor waterpark

Case Study that I adopted for my 1:100 scale model - Westgate Wonderland

Case Study that I adopted for my 1:100 scale model - SpongeBob Squarepants Pineapple House

For my 1:100 Scale model, I focus on nature and adopted inspiration from the SpongeBob Squarepants. I felt that it will be a good idea to make my indoor waterpark into SpongeBob square pants themed water park. In addition, I'm wondering whether I should make my waterpark to be half indoor and half outdoors (pls give me suggestions) ;-) For the structure of the play area in my 1:100 Scale, the inside of the "trunk" will not be a boring staircase for them to walk but instead, there will be high elements ropes within it for users to climb, crawl or balance themselves to make it to either to the second or third storey of the structure.

Wires representing the slides from each of the level connecting to another structure. the "cave" structure was actually inspired from pineapple house (but I don't know how to make the structure to resemble an pineapple still trying and figuring out in progress. There will be more play elements within the area coming up)

Rough sketch of the structure. The column mainly inspired from tree trunks and the holes on the tree trunk allow users to gain access in and out of the structure. The platform is actually inspired by leaves and the top of the structure is inspired by flowers.

Sketches for the area I want to focus on for 1:100

Above are the sketches for the are I want to focus on for my 1:100. As I dealing with the number 2 in hindi for this area, I decided to add in swings under shelter. (as seen from the sketches) Then, I decided to add in more slides and mini trampoline especially when they slide down from the curvy slide. For the slide next to it, it is going to be perpendicular to the ground, and as people walk on the pathway to the slide, there will be pebbles for massaging purposes and adding in difficulty for people to walk on. As the slide is not just a flat slide, there will be lights under the slide for night activity.
The 1:100 is still in progress.

Update w/ new pictures of model and sketches - Shawn

Plan view of model - Tower 1 and 2

Skywalk #1

Skywalk #2

Overall idea for four towers respectively

Bridge between T2 and T3 to connect ALL towers idea

Overall... I've got the overall idea of what i want to do as my final idea. I have gotten rid of my idea of roller coaster and added new play elements like rock climbing and flying fox. I have also put 2 elevated skywalks which are quite family-friendly. However, i'm still working on my T3 and T4, trying to make the flying fox idea feasible and safe to use, that's why the model pictures for the other 2 towers are not shown here.

Wavy facade
Overall
This is the part model of my main play. I changed the form of it from a arch form previously to this wavy facade. This main play is actually a  trampoline park but to make it special and fun, i have divided the area into three parts, consisting the normal trampoline on the left, the indoor bungee jump further up( yet to build it up because i don't intend to build in the structure as i feel that it will endanger the safety of the users) and a balls pit with a slide for users to slide into it. there are still other parts that is not build up yet.

Sembawang Park Playground & spider web @ pasir ris (Sharifah)

Site to Sembawang Park Playground

The overall structure of the playground and is a ship and is actually catered for children between 6 to 12 years old. However, I feel that it is too challenging for young kids of that age and it is suitable for teenagers as well.

the rock climbing wall to enter the "ship" is roughly about one storey high (around 2.5 metres) and is poses a challenge to climb

Near the "bow of the ship", the platform tilts at an angle. This might actually make users feel dizzy and loses balance. While this can also be an element of risk or thrill for some, some users might find it too unstable hence they might not enjoy the playground.

there are a lot of rope features in this playground as well, and it is shaped as squares or grid and and is attached together by small plastic spheres.

there are several small circular openings on the 2nd storey of the playground. this makes users use their body to bend and crawl in these spaces, and also creates a slight sense of seclusion to some areas of the "ship" where kids can choose their favourite spot and call it their "territory"

To prevent kids from falling over the playground, many railings are placed along the sides of the 2nd storey. These railings are about 80cm high, and have about 15cm spacings between. These help to protect the kids and allow them to grab these metal bars while climbing and crawling for balance.

the highest feature of the playground is this tall cuboid where there are 4 rubber mats and users can climb and sit on them. The tallest rubber mat is about 8 metres above ground. Even though it is high, there is a sense of safety is there as there are bars along the whole cuboid protecting these users. Users won't feel claustrophobic since there are adequate spacing between the rails.

Personally, the most risky part of the playground is the area shown in pic below. Although it is located at 2nd storey of the ship only, the platform is quite steep as it is tilted. It makes users lose their balance easily and since the platform below is not solid but rope grids, which are larger than average, it makes users feel more insecure.

the slides connect from the highest part of the ship, to the ground.
the stern of the boat is an area where users can climb and sit and relax, since there is shelter, and there are still slits where sunlight can pass through
Site to pasir ris spider web

Ive climbed this web many times when I was younger, but havent been here in a few years. It suddenly looks really small than what I envisioned.
The ropes are connected by metal hooks and the mid length of the ropes are strengthened by metal cylinders.

It was generally an easy climb so teenagers might not find it fun. (catered for 6 to 12 years old)

I personally feel that it would be nice if there's a small platform at the peak of the spider web so that us
ers can sit for a while and enjoy the view of the sea( you can see the sea from the peak)
